Even though neither Connie nor Elly recognized Martha, apparently Martha recognized them. Since Martha has dated both their sons, that makes perfect sense. Running about the mall shops at all hours without Elly knowing where they are is not a problem, just so long as they don’t hold hands while they do it.

The cartoon is drawn at an angle where we view the characters from below them. That makes their mid sections look larger and their heads smaller.
