Kirbee is so ditzy it’s adorable!

Check the spaces between the walls for mice. Chics love mice.

Reassuring and calming Kirbee is the easy part. Looking at Wally’s expression in panel 3 and 4, he’s already analyzing the situation trying to figure out what would have prompted Chic to sneak out and back into their apartment. And whether he needs to go look for Chic or wait for him to come home.

He knows what Chic has survived, and that he’s resourceful.. But then again, he’s only pretty sure he didn’t turn into a pair of pillows..

Wally knows the futility of going out looking for Chic. He’s got no idea where he is. Which is his reason to need calming.

You didn’t calm her, though.

Relieved, yes. Calm, no. xD

That’s right, Gracie.

Whew! What a relief! He just ran off into the night and didn’t turn into a lifeless pillow!! ☺

Come on dude, you’re like Cat Macgyver, grab a paperclip and a rubber band and go help him.

I really like these two (Chic, too). I hope they don’t get killed off. It seems anything can happen in this comic.

I wish Kirbee’s argument wasn’t as strong as it was.

You better hope he sneaks back in…

It’s the ONLY comedy he has left….Sad to say….

Let’s see what we have so far:

Sometime before the arc began, Duffy, either alone or along with his friends went exploring. This being something most preteen and early teen boys do. Duff evidently comes across something extremely frightening and it’s most likely big enough that he told an adult and he was likely discounted. He returns this time definitely with friends (including Ben) to get proof. he fails and loses Ben in the process. Ben is likely presumed dead, though this may not be so. This is Duff’s second attempt at getting proof of his discovery. For that purpose, he needs someone small like Chic. Possibly his real need is for Irving. Don’t discount that bug!

Here’s a possible clincher. The leaders of Eden know about it, and whatever it is, are fearful of it. This is why expansion projects are “delayed” or “halted”. For any town hanging on the edge of existence (remember, there are Topsiders looking to destroy them), anything unknown is to be feared. Think of the Dad in the beginning of “The Croods” movie for example.

The adventure awaits. We are soon to discover what this fearful thing might be, and whether it helps, or hurts the colony. Either way, a voyage across the ocean may be in our reading future.

They better go by submarine to play it safe.

If anyone can calm him, she can do it.
