Daughter’s friend went from hero to zero in one sentence the other day with my wife. He saw one of the glamour shots pictures she had done back in the early 90s and said, “Dayum, you were a hot smoking babe back then!”
Recently saw a twenty-five year old picture of a friends wife. She was “smoking hot” as they say. Anyway, I couldn’t help but look at her and then her husband, saying Connie…“You settled!”
Sheesh, Janis must get depressed easily…it’s not like she now looks old, gray, wrinkled and obese. I get Susan’s comment, Janis also still has her loving spouse to share life with…so snap out of it, woman! ;-)
“Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be; the last of life for which the first was made”…Like I told my wife, it’s just that our bodies don’t like the cold, and parts of them are heading South…
My mom is turning 90 at the end of the month. My sister is having a dinner at restaurant for mom’s birthday. Sister asked for photos of mom. We really don’t take “people” pictures (as opposed to vacation sites, 1770 clothing in museum and at historic sites (we are 1770s reenactors) and needlework study or 1770s objects photos. I told her I would check – I figured that there at least had to be photos of her in our (39 yo) wedding album. I looked through my other photo album (most recent photo at least 30 years old) for photos of mom.
I did come across photos of me from back then – 39 years ago and older. I was shocked at how I looked at then. I looked thinner than I should have (I am now back down to my high school weight – and I was a porker then – and when we were dating I was about 12 pounds even heavier. I decided that I like how I look with my eyeglasses better than with the contact lenses I had then. While I like the 1770s dressed photos of me the best of all of the, I look a lot better no – and only 40 pounds overweight. :-)

Perhaps the past is best viewed through a glass darkly.

My wife and I just went out last weekend for the anniversary of our first date
The little black dress she wore for that first date is a sight I will never forget
We both know she wouldn’t have looked the same in a dress like that now
Didn’t matter, she still looks great to me and we had a good time

Would you hand Arlo a picture, Janis, with a sad face, so that he could compare what he was then with what he is now?
Celebrate what you are lucky enough to still have… including Arlo.
And appreciate that he still celebrates having you.
Don’t make sadness and discontent out of happiness and incredible good fortune.

Careful Arlo, see the fate of Larry the Croc in “Pearls” today.

Arlo is just complaining that Janis just kicked his libido back to 20-30 years ago! ;o)

The brilliance of Arlo’s response is priceless, yet there is to my knowledge, no man alive that is either that “immediately-clever”, (or brave)!

The right response is, *Get your suit. We’re going to the beach!"

Cue Billy Joel, “I love you just the way you are”. Arlo: “Janis, we’ve both aged. The ages have not diminished my love for you!”

Half the time I don’t understand this comic. Is he upset because she used to look good, or because he looks so much worse now? Or some other reason?

Janis is generally depressed about her looks even when Arlo still approaches her for intimate relations.

Just don those rose colored glasses, dim the lights and immerse yourselves in the present.
