Way to go, Sophie! A happy very early Friday (or very late Thursday) to all. My insomnia is manifesting itself for some reason. The pj set I got today isn’t helping, despite the sleeping cats printed all over the shorts and “I love to nap” printed on the top. Time to play the Yoga Nidra app again…
It’s OK, Lupin. Foxes are wonderful, even if not of felid origin. If a fox and a hound can become buds, no reason to doubt it could ever happen with kitties & foxies! ♥
I’m sure someone commented before, but I just noticed that Sophie is odd-eye! Our Bianca was odd-eyed white, a dumpster rescue. We had her from the mid eighties well through the nineties. She was sweet at home but has a mortal fear of the vet’s office. Sounded like a banshee when anxious.
Lupin, remember that Scottish Folds don’t have pointy ears. And Manx cats don’t have bushy tails. And Beatrix’s paws – however beloved they are among the CN news crew and faithful fans, aren’t exactly dainty.
Poor Lupin, foxes are not cats and you are not dainty (at least, that’s what I’ve heard; you are supposed to sound like a small horse). Elvis, unless Natasha comes back to fool with your mind again, don’t wait for the plant to start talking back again.
On the home front, got the blood work done yesterday. I’m glad we got it done, because his brother is coming to pick him up; they are going to try opening up the cabin. I am a bachelorette for the weekend!
Lupin, about 55 million years ago there was a common ancestor for cats and foxes (canines). It’s a long ways back, but maybe there’s a sepia photo in a very old family album somewhere.
The name “Lupin” can be derivative of “lupine”, an adjective meaning “wolfish”. And since both wolves & foxes are canids, I can understand Lupin’s confusion, even though he more often exhibits equine behavior.

Art mirrors life for Sophie.
And lovely Puck, letting Lupin down so gently.

No, foxes aren’t cats. Foxes are members of the family Canidae, which makes them more closely related to dogs.

Sophie’s gorgeousness! She’s soooooo stylish! She’s like the Grace Kelly of BCN. ♥

I just love Lupin’s pointing toe in panel one.

Puck I still say you need to work up a chart so Lupin will accept that foxes aren’t kitties – despite the lovely drawing he’s holding.

Love the split focus wrap-up of two story arcs….perhaps Georgia is working up to a Sunday welcome to Spring.

“Swift, dainty paws”! Perfect! Except, forgive me, Lupin, “dainty” is not a word I associate with you.
Also, love Sophie’s hat! She’s going to give Puck a run for his money as local fashionista.

Clint Eastwood singing from Paint Your Wagon: I Talk to the Trees
I talk to the Plant, the Plant with so many teeth,
I tell it it’s brave, I don’t expect an answer.
…….
I don’t have the time
To play word games with plants,
But Sophie asks, and I do.
…….
But suddenly my words must reach the plant’s ear,
And I hear a reply of thanks.
…….
I don’t notice there’s a Robber Mouse,
Natasha collecting all her thorns,
As she grabs her bag of weapons sharp,
And then she suddenly is gone!
…….
Maybe this plant with too many teeth,
Is a thing of beauty, I don’t know,
Sophie’s making a new style hat,
It is really quite a show!
…….
So I try to tell plant again,
And I do not get any reply,
Could this be some Robber prank?
I must remain dignified.
…….
I talk to the plant,
Then move on to other things,
The news never waits,
That’s true!

Poor Elvis, the Mice are tooling with him. If anybody has an Alexa or Siri, this is funny to watch.
When your fur-baby is in the room, say “Alexa, sound like a cat!”
Alexa will make cat meow’s and our cats freeze and look around frantically wondering how a strange cat got into the house. It is hilarious.

I am liking the vocal banter on Panel 1 … It’s kind of like a game show (which, if BCN hasn’t played on that, Ms. Dunn should! That would be a riot!)
Puck is acting like the show host, and Lupin as contestant just lost that round…
Puck: "OOooo! I’m SO sorry, Lupin! That’s incorrect! But thanks so much for playing on … ‘Compare That Critter’!!! :)

Grey foxes climb trees. I guess that makes them honorary cats. Apparently they’re on a much more primitive branch of the canid family tree.
