Why is it when your parents give something to do, it’s never fun?

Michael’s words take me back to when I was a kid.

If I came out with half the sarcasm that Michael gets away with, I’d have had a hard time sitting for at least a week… Lynn wrote his dialog like he was a teenager not a kid…

(Later), my famous last words before a stare of death from Mom.

No, Michael, it’ll be now or the choices will get less desirable.

In the second panel, Farley almost looks like a little sister with pony tails. Cute! :-)

I’m with your Darkeforce. I don’t recall boredom being a problem as a kid. I read a lot and then I used to do something really scary and dangerous. I used to “go outside” to play with the other kids in the neighborhood.

It makes me kind of sad to drive down residential streets these days and almost never see any kids out playing. It is all indoors today with video games and web surfing. Little wonder we are becoming a fat nation.

Oh oh … NEVER say you’re bored to a mother. There is ALWAYS something to do…

To those who asked me yesterday … I am not an employee of GoComics.com OR Lynne Johnson. I *do* know to go to http://www.fborfw.com/strip_fix/ and read Lynne’s comments, hence how I knew yesterday that these are new strips.

Television, computers and video games may be a big part of why kids don’t play outside much anymore but unfortunately, there are also a lot more deviant people roaming the streets now than there used to be so it’s no longer safe to leave children outside to play unattended without worrying that someone’s going to kidnap them if you take your eyes off them for 5 seconds.

“Just wait until your father gets home” was one of my mother’s most popular expressions that always kept my sister and me on the straight and narrow around our house when we were kids. My dad wasn’t really abusive but he had a short temper at times and didn’t seem to mind giving us spankings when he felt they were deserved … and sarcastic back-talk to my mother at any kind of a chore request like this was definitely a punishable-by-spanking offense.
