    It’s a natural screening process.

Neither our cat nor our dog chase squirrels. They learned they’ll never catch one, and they are both too old and wise to bother.

We did not have squirrels where I grew up (low desert, too hot for them) so our dog saved all his energy for chasing cats. A couple of times, when a strange cat wandered through our yard, he went straight through the screen door before we could get it open for him. Yeah, the door had to be repaired or replaced, but the dog was fine.

My St. Bernard did that to our patio door. I replaced it with a fiberglass screen. The next time, she BOUNCED! ;-D
