Don’t ya go to Sweden, Andy. They’ve already all but eliminated cash there. As I understand it, out of about 125 banks & branches in the Stockholm area, only 5 [sic] will deal with cash. So in Sweden, Big Brother knows everything about your financial life. I suppose it means the Swedes won’t even have to file an income tax return. The banks and government can simply compute it themselves with the data they already have.
I live in a country (Ecuador) whose economy is based on paying cash, – in spite of the efforts of the banks and government to get the people to go cashless and use credit and debit cards.
Interestingly, while people will use a debit or credit card for purchases, you rarely see someone writing a cheque. The debit card has definitely replaced the cheque book but not the cash-in-hand.
Brilliant classic by Eldo today! I’ve been saying for (mumble mumble) decades that Andy’s world should STAY in the primitive world of Flo bringing in pots of boiling water to heat up the cast-iron bathtub wherein Andy takes his yearly bath. I’m not saying Andy should be Alley Oop or BC but…….modern tech and Andy simply do NOT mix.
I haven’t carried cash for the last 20 years(when I retired) using a credit card for every purchase, makes me think about whether the item(s) are something I really need
Every now and then, I think of paying for stuff in stores with cash and just using my credit card for online purchases. Don’t know if that’s really smart, though. On another note, saw a garter snake while out walking.

At least with cash – when the banks or card providers are down you can still pay

How do you know whether a debit/credit card is contactless or chip and PIN? I don’t know what mine is…
Sorry for the dumb question.

@Afficionado
I miss it when you used to say that you are going for a Sunday drive in the “Blue Menace”
I hope Connie gets well real soon. There must be a bug going round where you are.
