We all know that the internet is the internet and that it does not matter where you are, you are connected to everywhere else.

So it costs the carrier just as much money to send a text message across the room (fractions of a milli-penny) as it does around the world. But “international rates apply.”

Pure and simple $$$ for the wireless companies.
