What John needs is a man cave. Like a workshop with model locomotives.

I think the best part of this comic strip is in the first panel where you can see that Farley completely won the battle yesterday so John had to move to the other side of the couch.

A man’s home is his castle, so never deny “the king” his time on the throne!

Get a hammock and go outside for the fresh air and read.

bathroom = man cave??

I notice Farley has won his seat back on the sofa.

Welcome to reality, John. One day, this will be the good old timrs.

No wife, no kids, I visit and it makes me appreciate my nice quiet home when I leave.

A little peace and quiet once in a while is nice, but a little noise and distraction is worth it when the quiet becomes silence and the peace become inactivity.

Is there a place? Not in your house, John!

She’s had all day, and she picks now? They all do! It’s a conspiracy.

So come in a take a bath. I’m just reading.

A car is comfy and quiet.

Lynn’s Comments:

We had one bathroom in our house on 5th Street. If Dad came home in a bad mood, we all ran for the comfort of the “throne” before he could lock himself in there and relax. I once went to visit Harry Morgan (of “Mash” fame.) While showing me around their LA house, his wife said, “Lynn, Harry and I have been married a long time and I gotta tell you, the secret to a happy marriage is having separate bathrooms!” I have to agree.

Truly a mans “Fortress of Solitude”. A tradition passed down from father to son. Some of my best reads have been on the pot in the wee (no pun) hours. Lol!

Monticello; Thomas Jefferson’s home, had an enclosed gazebo where he would sit to read or think.

Yeah, but who had the kids?

I have never understood why anyone would want to read in the bathroom. Once you’re done with “business”, the seat is just downright uncomfortable.

The Pattersons are experiencing “Games of Throne”.

A lot of a persons miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone.
