Seriously, is it really the time for this? The place is about to flood out, the water is about to hit the second floor, cant they put their heads together for a moment and find out a solution to the problem at hand? Wait, what am I thinking? Thatll never happen.
You know what would work real well, Thick? Taunt him! Call him a disgusting, worthless, bloodthirsty psycho! Tell him that his mother wears army shoes! Show him what you’re made of, Thick … or just wait a minute and he’ll open you up and show us what you’re made of!
This is like the ending of “Brides of Dracula,” where a vampire is trapped in an abandoned windmill with a deranged, self-righteous vampire hunter. The vampire attacks the hunter by swinging a chain. The hunter escapes by setting the windmill on fire. It’s raining heavily (while everywhere else, it’s frickin’ snowing) so don’t be surprised if Locher has the granary burn to the ground.
Yes, Thick, the chains were securely et cetera. But you overlooked the Floating Hand! After it tickled your ear the other day it stole the keys, undid the locks, and is now helping Morbid to twirl the chain.
@Ludwig: Sam’s “good news” will turn out to be yet another totally out-of-the-blue red herring that makes little sense, gets mentioned about twice, then never comes into play again.
If they were smart, which they aren’t, they’d go outside where the water is still below the first floor. Only Locher would have the FBI hand over a prisoner to be transported without handcuffs. And some people wonder why we poke fun at it!
Slylock Fox and Max Mouse make a heckuva lot more sense than this does…… and it’s written for kids!
Now we know why the Locher Mess Monster dragged this out so long. He was waiting for the chains to rust away. What’s left of them will explode into powder, leaving Merde to stand their with an embarrassed look on his mask. Which I’m guessing he still has on, because taking it off would make sense.
When Sam announced there was good news, he also said the storm was getting stronger. Maybe he was getting some signal from their radio, or had found out Tracy’s prisoner isn’t the real one. He’s one of the decoys and will now save Tracy if he isn’t too ticked off about the whole experience of almost drowning, etc.
If he could take them off any time he wanted then why did he keep begging to have them removed? We’ve been waiting weeks (it feels like months) for this development?
Some might think you are ungreatful. Look at the beautiful car wrecking sequence Locher has given us. And a frigtening grannery where vampire bats may nest under the roof of the top floor
Perhaps Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing are just up there hanging, waiting for nightfall to come - to feast !
This may be the SURPRISE ending of Tracy and Mordred that Locher secretly has in store for us ?
Sam will ‘shake a leg’ by month end and drive out to find Tracy. What he’ll find are body carcases. The story will end like Annie, with a question unanswered …
I’ve looked ahead. You can all go to sleep for another week. Except for one outrageous “good news” item and one Tracy “action,” it just stretches the strip to its breaking point. It will then be four weeks to bring in the new team. I can hardly wait.
Police grade ammunition, like military loads, are waterproof and should fire after having been immersed in water. Sporting ammo is a different story. It may or may not.
Everybody keeps mentioning Comics Kingdom, I just Googled it and found http://www.comicskingdom.com/ which led me to http://www.newsok.com/entertainment/comics?feature_id=Dick_Tracy. Cant seem to find next weeks strips. However I noticed something else. It appears that in panel 2, either Mordred has changed into a suit or its Tracy twirling the chain. Panel 3, Tracy dodges. Apparently Mordred is wearing a suit just like Tracy.
Maybe today’s comic is Sam’s good news. His unbridled ambition to climb the ladder without actively kicking his co-workers in the teeth. Outta the way, Thick, Sam Ketchup is here!

I checked it out morrow. Im sad to say it but it does get a little interesting but it also starts making even less sense and gets worse. Are they trying to go for a record of worst storyline ever here?
How far in advance are strips usually done? I never knew they were done at least two weeks beforehand.
If you want to really blow your mind, on Comics Kingdom viewer click Tracy and The Phantom on the same page, one above the other. While Tracy has been conversing with Moldred for some month, the Phantom has rescued Diana, taken her to a place of rest and recovery, rounded up several bad guys and deposited them with the authorities. And all was done with great artistic work.

Shiver Me Timbers - How did you get out those chains???
Mordred - I am really “David Copperfield”
Is it Whoosh or Froome????
Bill Thompson almost 14 years ago
Whoa! Morass trimmed Thick’s fingernails right down to the knuckles!
It looks like he slipped out of his restraining suit, but the odds are he’s still wearing his mask.
Now if Thick insists enough that the chains, locks and cuffs were secure, will Mordred suddenly agree that he’s right and lock himself up again?
Vista Bill Raley and Comet™ almost 14 years ago
Would a pair of handcuffs done a better job than 40 lbs. of chains?

Look at panel 3. Look at Mordreds hand. Didnt he have on gloves? Whend he take them off?

be the real thing.
Too bad it has to end in “Domestic Violence”

If Spacy was a “smart cookie” he would have put handcuffs on the country’s most dangerous criminal. That’s how the cookie crumbles.

What happened to the background? Seriously, weren’t they in a building or something? When did their world turn into an arctic whiteout?

This totally reminds me of how that one animal on Noah’s ark got out of its chains and started twirling them around and attacking Noah.

Haven’t commented on this comic in a while. So can I just say:
sigh. used to be sooo much better.

That chain will merit Modred nothing….he’s forgotten Tracy has proven he has SUPER STRENGTH and still has a GUN.
Unless of course Tracy screwed up and lost his firearm again.

And take the bullet out of your shirt pocket and insert it into the firing chamber…

Any modern firearm will still fire after being briefly immersed in water. However, Tracy is packing a muzzle loader.

I looked ahead on Comics Kingdom.
On Monday, Locher can give us only two panels.
On Sunday, Sam says something and then on Thursday, Lizz asks a question in which Sam gave Lizz the info to on Sunday. Lizz must be blonde.
So, the quality of writing continues downhill next week.
