That reminds me of the convenience store across the street from us, when we were growing up. Every time someone dropped in to visit our parents we would get a quarter or a dollar(!) and we spent that money on ice cream, soda, bubble gum cards or other sweets. In those days people would just pop-in without much ado and the grown ups would have tea, beer or even something stronger and sit outside for a while and visit. What happened that we are in so much hurry nowadays that our conversations have been reduced to single word texts….
