A comment like that to a parent would have gotten me or my siblings knocked into the middle of next week.

What she should do is march outside and hang all his underpants on the clothesline and then invite all the neighbours round for afternoon drinks and nibbles, including all his friends. That would teach him.

There’s a degree of casual cruelty in this strip, especially about the way people look and it bothers me because rarely do any of them get called out for it.

Wait until she goes with him to pick out a prom tux. Video of prom night is great wedding rehearsal dinner fodder.

I love being my age – don’t give a rap what others think about either my fashion sense or how I look in my clothes. Being comfortable in the summer heat isn’t easy, to begin with, so who needs a snotty kid doing a job on you?

She should consider the source and laugh it off.

Just start driving Michael everywhere in those shorts, with lots of makeup, hair in curlers, wearing high heels with toe nails painted and smoking a cigarette using a cigarette holder!!!

Between the four-eyes comment to his little sister and now the shorts comment to his Mom, something should be done to “deflate his over-inflated ego”. Cleaning the kitchen with a toothbrush might be a good start and expand from there.

Smart mouthed kids need to be reminded why acting like that is a bad idea. Being reminded that many of the things they consider rights are actually privileges that their parents allow them was frequently a rather effective method.
