This strip is something you might expect to see in a college newspaper, which is where it probably originated. There is usually nothing funny and honestly, it even falls short of irony, which is where it probably means to go. Someone here leveled off a long time ago and can’t seem to bring it up to the next level.
we ran a rural ambulance and were subsidized and flat rate. Went Code on a call to next village and discovered we were called because they didn’t have cab money to go drinking so expected a ride to hospital across the street from the bar. The Buffalo Cab Company (very popular in rural Canada) dealt with them
So much for the taxes we pay! I have paid for an ambulance twice and believe me, I needed one! The first time I wasn’t taken for 8 hrs, sitting in a wheelchair in the ER but the second time I was taken right away. Go figure…..
This actually happens. So much so that the state I live in is drafting legislature to ban it on the grounds that rideshare drivers have no professional training. (I have been both, by the way – rideshare and medical driver)

The way they described ambulance service in a radio story on healthcare I heard recently, this isn’t far from reality.

Must be a third world sh!thole country without national health. Health care is a right, not a privilege for the rich.

I can tell you from personal experience that Canada’s allegedly-free health care doesn’t cover ambulance rides.

This is unfortunately very accurate. People are using ride-shares instead of ambulances which can easily run over a thousand dollars for a short trip.

Well, some uber drivers pick up falling-down drunks. Why should this be any different?
