You never read “The Wizard of Oz”? Heart is writing her version of how the winged monkeys got out from under the rule of the Wicked Witch…back-story, if you want.

Heart is too young to be this PC, but she is. She’s been well and truly indoctrinated. On the other hand, we boomers were educated with a whole lot of lipservice given to questioning authority and thinking for ourselves, and look what we got: conspiracy theories, anti-vaxxers, Iraq/Afghanistan and Donald Trump. There’s something to be said for indoctrination of the young after all.

The story is coming to Heart pretty easy. The last panel is pure middle school girl.

The winged monkeys were compelled to obey whoever controlled the golden cap (that looked an awful lot like an early leather flight helmet). The WW of the W had that cap and therefore controlled the monkeys. Once they were set free, they were peaceful and friendly. If you look during the movie, you can see the witch holding and shaking it while speaking to the king of the monkeys.

Her secret plans won’t be secret for long if she keeps saying them out loud.
