What the world needs is more Mee Maws!

It’s good to see a family that welcomes its teaching offspring home during the off season, since many who are performing this very important job don’t get paid during the summer. (And what they get paid during the school year, at least in Florida, is not enough to save up for rent during summer, especially when they have college loans to pay off…)

Well actually teachers are not entitled to unemployment as their salary is considered to be a year round salary even if it is paid only during the school year – it is intended to cover them for the full year. Generally around here they seem to get a choice of being paid over the school year or the full year – same total salary, different size checks.

They can teach summer school or get a job at a camp or such for additional income.

I’ve been following this ‘toon off & on for a few years but I don’t think I’ve seen these folks before now. How are they related to Rose? Thx in advance! :)

Parents live/love to hear those words but rarely express it openly. It’s more a lightening of the heart, a different kind of smile, and the hugs are as little warmer.

That suit and mustache are often used to designate the wealthy. Is that how the Lassie can afford to be a teacher?

She spends her summers time travelling to the Edwardian era.

Those look (a) more like her grandparents if not her great-grandparents, and (b) time-warped from approximately the Grant Wood era of the 1930s if not before.
