The ocean’s probably full of omega 3 oil. All you have to do is scrape it off of the plastic.

From the look on the whale’s face, I think the Omega 3 is about to be renamed Jonah.

Sadly, thousands of whales were killed for their oil. From the 1400’s to the 1800’s their oil (from melting their blubber) was used for lamps and for making soap.

However, the whale-oil industry was HUGE in New England in the early 19th Century. Petroleum-based oils weren’t much available, and weren’t the same quality, as whale oil. They still aren’t. Even in 1961, there was a whale-oil venture proposed because of the unique quality of the product:

    Fish oil? Another thing entirely!

They use to take whale oil up until petroleum was discovered and drilled in the USA.

Whales were harvested for their oil. This stopped when we found that it was cheaper to drill for it, particularly as the whales were becoming scarce.

That technique was first tried in the 1800’s for harvesting whale oil.
