Amazing! They’re older than me. Before I was born they had about 2½ times longer life than Calvin. One thing’s for sure, Snuffy isn’t paying.

Imagine: If the strip had been named “Barney Finzendorfer”, you’d have to Finzendorfer his name.

In the mid 1960s nearly every kid had heard that one and lots of other elephant jokes. e.g. Green sneakers version is for hiding on pool tables. … or … How do you get down off an elephant? You don’t! It comes from ducks!

There’s also a Barney Google tribute in “Mutts” today, quoting the old song about him.
