Sorry, Elly. No bottles of perfume to throw; John hid them all this time…
As for Lynn’s comments about today’s strip fix, she needs to talk to the Dog Whisperer as she clearly has no concept of what is going on inside the pooch’s head…
hmmm … If Farley prefers to be indoors at night, then brining him inside when he barks when outdoors at night is a reward. So Elly is rewarding and encouraging the barking behavior.
He’s either joking or he’s a moron for waiting to be “let out”. A decent marriage allows for some personal time for everyone, both with and without your spouse.
I’m not sure how to take some these comments. Isn’t this a cartoon? With fictional characters? With made-up dialogue written to be funny? Any resemblance to real people intended to help us laugh at ourselves? This dialogue sounds to me like it’s just stand-up (lay-down?) comedy.
Our little Rat Terrier does this..it’s a dog’s way of ‘protecting their property’…sniffing & alerting that some critter had crossed onto her yard.
It’s cute..and a natural instinct of a pack animal. Dogs, despite how much we pay for them, are pack animals..My favorite behavior is the ‘turning in circles’ before laying down…Took a bit of research on my part to find that they have scents in their paws & are laying down a boundary of scent before they rest, alerting other pack animals of their presence as they sleep.
I love this cartoon..and the commentary board =D
It brings a subtle reminder that there are things in life / around us that can still bring a smile to our faces…simply based on the innocence that hits us upon immediately taking the experience in…BEFORE we analyze it to death.
THIS is the beauty in Lynn’s strip….the innocence of it all BEFORE we pick it to pieces =D
First of all, if this is something Farley does every single night, then maybe she shouldn’t let him out at night.
Second of all, they live in Canada. I hope she isn’t leaving that poor dog out all night in the winter time too!
Third, just because Elly asks John what he considers to be a “loaded” question, just ripe for a rude, sarcastic, one-liner come-back, doesn’t mean he has the right to say it — especially when he knows how upset it makes her! Maybe that’s why Elly seems to yell so much. If I had to put up with that kind of nonsense from my husband I’d probably be angry all the time too.
“I have never been able to understand how folks can put up with their own dog’s incessant barking - much less inflict the misery on others. I also find it hard to understand how a dog can bark for so long without going hoarse or passing out from lack of breath! I suspect the first query can be explained by suggesting that some pet owners are completely unfazed by the noise and don’t give a frog’s fart about anyone else in the neighborhood.”
People who can’t hear the same obnoxious barking from their dogs that everyone around them is forced to endure are probably the exact same people with the whining, screaming kids that they can’t seem to hear either.

Honestly, Elly leaves herself wide open for comments like that.

And she’s NOT going to either.

Seen that Farley prefers to be indoors at night, simply don’t leave him outside when you go to bed !!!

Thanks for the link, WebSpider.
I agree with Lynn’s statement:

Oh my goodness. Such a simple fix. Keep Farley in at night where he can feel the love and protection of his home and family.
Take him out during the day as weather permits.to explore and enjoy the scents left during the night by “visitors”.
