Hobbes, take him to Pep Boys, buy a power winch and a heavy duty battery. That will solve the problem

    Hey Wabbit

Are you entitled to your opinion? (Just kidding.)

Please don’t stir up a hornet’s nest. This strip really isn’t about politics. Save that for the editorial cartoons.

I liked the 1963 strip thanks Hobbes. Calvin can just do like my kids, walk until your tired and go back down. By the end of the day they usually make it to the top of the hill. Good Morning Everyone

Hobbes I’m sorta disapointed I thought you would have Charlie brown on a sled asking Snoopy pull him up the hill.

Sorry Calvin you have to do the walking yourself then have the fun just don’t invite Hobbes to ride down. Calvin you have too much energy.

Geeeez oh Friday Hobbes. That’s a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. NOW you think this strip is about humor and not more deep seated issues? I’m surprised, or shall I quote some past posts?

@HDSnoopy- this is just a shot in the dark, but I’m gonna guess that Peanuts strip came from December 7 because that’s the day that it happened to run in newspapers, and Hobbes thought that strip related to today’s C&H. If you go back through comic strip history, you will see that the comics run every day, even if those days are also associated with ugly historical events

I noted in the first frame that Hobbes was helping Calvin pull the sled up the hill….they were sharing the load, so to speak. Instead of accepting how his friend was helping, Calvin wanted MORE…a free ride. I see Calvin is alone without help now.

@rogue53: This COMICstrip is NOT political in any way. It’s simply meant for humor. Why must you continuously aim your obviously antagonistic personality at Hobbes? If causing trouble and stirring up dissention is how you entertain yourself, please go somewhere else. We receive enough political rhetoric in the real world. I don’t know about anyone else, but I come here to escape from that world, even if only for a moment, and smile at simple, entertaining humor, and fun-loving comments from a great group of people. Let it go, or take it somewhere else (like where it belongs).

As for the comic: Calvin must learn that the thrill of the ride down does not come without a cost.

    @fogger-man

You don’t find it somewhat ironic that the biggest preacher here on this site is telling someone else that this is not the place for politics? That it’s a place for humor…..?

If you want to know why I personally direct my comments to the fake Hobbes, it’s because he is by far the most long winded, and preachy individual posting here. It’s hard to imagine that someone who daily tries to give life lessons to others has the gall to tell someone else not to post certain ideas.

I’m not saying I disagree with the sentiment he posted, ( I too, do not want to see the democrat vs republican garbage) but it’s a bit hypocritical coming from that source.

My first post to this site, quite some time ago, made mention of the fact that my purpose in coming here each morning was to have a laugh with my breakfast, and not be preached to. I was quickly reminded by the imitation Hobbes that it was a site for ALL kinds of comments. But today, he/she counsels another poster for their thoughts. That’s the hypocritical part.

Yes, I was long winded in this reply also, but it was in response to your comment. Have a nice day.

You’ll go a lot farther a lot faster in life when you share the load, Calvin (as you can now see).

Anything worth its weight in fun sometimes must be worked hard for. The work may be boring and tedious but in the end, it’s well worth it!

I wish people would skip over the comments of people they don’t like and leave the rest of us out of their petty squabbles! Some of us just want to come here for the funny antics of a precocious 6-year-old, his furry best friend, his exasperated parents, and, of course, the camaraderie of others who love this comic as much as we ourselves do!

RCMinor: You’re right, it is a toboggan which is much easier to pull because it glides on the snow and doesn’t sink like a sled with the runners making it hard to pull uphill!

When ‘I was a kid me and my friends used to take turns on who would grab all the ropes on everybody’s sleds and pull them to the top of the hill at once. Otherwise after awhile we’d all end up laying on top of our sleds in the cold at some point too exhausted to pull them back up again. I was the first one in my group to get a “snow saucer” which everyone tried and later teased their parents to buy which solved the problem entirely!

<< HDSnoopy said: Hey, Hobbes. That Peanuts was from December 7th why? >>

Hi HDSnoopy. I like your name. What does the HD stand for – Happy Dog?

bizaker is correct. Occasionally I post a Peanuts strip to show a parallel between Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes, regardless of the date. In the one I posted today, Snoopy is having a reaction similar to Hobbes’s reaction when it is suggested that he should pull a sled.

A friend will help you pull your toboggan.

A good friend will help you move.

A really good friend will help you move a body.
