Have y’all heard the screech of a Screech owl on a dark summer’s night? When we lived in So. Cal, and we would sit out very late watching the stars/satellites/meteorites, we would hear them……what an awesome sound!!!!!!
These “lil ole Hoot Owls” are something out of Cinderella!!!!
Tried imitating Owl calls late one night. Apparently I was successfully. From the Owls’ frenzied response either I yelled ‘FIRE’ or …
a sultry ‘I’m Easy’.
Quickly made my way indoors.
On bird counts with the Audubon Society, I’ve played owl calls in an effort to get them to call back so they can be enumerated. x_Tech, the worst that can happen is you’ll get one irritated at a supposed rival and it’ll make a stoop at your head.
Here in Rural Indiana, we hear screech, barred and great-horned owls often (but never 6 nights in a row). Eerie or not, the barred often hoot during the daylight.

Love the art. And I do here the occasional daytime owl hoot around here. Of course, it’s still pretty early.

I remember a (comic) book with a Cousin Eerie. Is this strip intellectual property theft?

I don’t give a hoot. I wanna hoot all of the day and all of the night.
I second ♠Lonewolf♠, Thom. Beatiful artwork.

Thom has some of the most intricate, and beautiful artwork I see in ANY of my comics! Which makes his strips such a hoot to read!

Love the squirrel in the tree trunk! Nice touch!

seems like they’d always want to be tooting their Great Horns.

And they feel the same way about squirrels as the Dogs in UP, so this wouldn’t be their current conversation.

Hoot are you? Hoot hoot hoot hoot.
The Hoot.

Wouldn’t hooting warn your prey? Not that he doesn’t already see you sitting there.

One moon lit night I was grabbing chickens roosting in a low tree. After fetching three I discovered the 4th one was an owl. I let go fast!

It must be too dark to see any extra faces…I think the owls that screech are eerier than any amount of hooting.
But the eeriest is when an owl turns its head nearly completely around to look at me….
