Back in the day, the concession stand was a nice little side line that gave the theater owner a little pocket change. These days the stand is the main profit center, which is why most of the movies at the googol plex appeal to 15 year old boys and their empty bellies.
We only watch the large action films at the theater (maybe one a quarter) and save all the rest for DVD. Our large home screens are good enough for the tearjerkers and low action dramas.
I pretty much gave up going to the movies when cineplexes replaced the local movie theaters. It has to be something I really, really want to see to even consider the notion, especially now that I’m older and use a cane to get about. Besides the cost, there are more immediate issues for me. The steep, elongated steps are challenging enough, but trying to watch a film amidst the sea of mini-screens lit up in the seats, the phone conversations during the dialogue, or personal commentaries on the picture being shown by other patrons who apparently assume everyone wants to hear their opinions, have pretty much made me either a WFC or WFD movie patron. (That’s “Wait-for-Cable” or “Wait-for-DVD,” if you didn’t know.)
This is true, just like Grocery Shopping now,you practically have to take out a lone to pay.Don’t know how Families can do it.I guess work multiple jobs and/or Maxed out Multiple Credit Cards.

Haven’t seen a movie in a theater in years. Besides, they won’t pause it when (not if) I have to go to the bathroom.
