I wouldn’t want people to know this happened falling off the toilet. Joe has a better idea.
All you who asked what krump dancing is you beat me to it. I will have to google this and see.
I saw something different a month ago and not I can’t give you a name some odd phrase. I guess I’m getting old.
I just google it and related to young blacks to me a cross of gang style and anger together. Like fighting. Black women doing this. Looks like they could hurt themselfs and damage shoulders.
I hope one real life show involves ball room dancing doesn’t bring this on the show.
Krump dancing, aka Krunk dancing as its less regarded alternate name and music name, is NOT a mix between break dancing and a seizure… though the seizure depiction is quite reflective.
The only similarity between krump dancing and break dancing was that it was started as a street dance that was also used as a “battle” dance, settling disputes without actual violence… eventually evolving into competitions.
Krump music is typically a hip-hop instrumental with gross distortions, especially to the bass, to make it sound more violent and aggressive and carries a large emphasis on the dominant rhythmic beat. It’s also usually slower in tempo so as to allow more showy aspects of the dance.
The dance is somewhat seizure like and could also be compared to a child’s temper tantrum or an ape’s tantrum. It usually has a wide legged, knee bent stance to provide a solid, balanced base while the upper body does most of the, well, flailing (similar to an ape).
The muscles are often quite tense as both a show of strength (like when a guy tries to psych out another guy by flexing their muscles) and to make the movements more violent, sudden and over-the-top. Stomping, crotch grabbing, beating of one’s own body, chest popping, arm flailing, head snapping, shirt removing, clothing and item throwing and slamming are all quite common actions. Hence, why I used the temper tantrum and ape flailing comparisons.
Surprisingly, it has been a featured dance on So You Think You Can Dance a few times as one of the founders of Krump dancing has sought to mature the dance into a skilled art form the way break dancing and many dances have; though it’s still really a street dance.
As another example. If there were a tree limb a typical dancer might use it to swing around or balance with skillfully or leap from, etc. A krump dancer would try and shake and rip the tree limb and what ever else he could down, smashing, throwing and displaying the results of his works of strength… much like an ape. But I will admit, that Krump has progressed as time has gone on and there are more skillful additives… mostly inclusions from other dance forms and gymnastics.
But hence why hurting oneself Krump dancing sounds better to a boy than the embarrassment of hurting oneself falling off the toilet.
