It’s a dog vs cat stand off in an attempt to save face over having been frightened by the storm. I suspected Trevor would be a formidable debate partner for Elvis. Has somebody started the popcorn yet?
“The real objection to the great majority of cats is their insufferable air of superiority. Cats, as a class, have never completely got over the snootiness caused by the fact that in Ancient Egypt they were worshipped as gods. This makes them too prone to set themselves up as critics and censors of the frail and erring human beings whose lot they share.”
Power outage, loud storm, nerves are on edge. Be careful when you are under stress, you can say things that you wish you could take back, but that is never possible.
I agree with Puck, Elvis, get back to reporting the news. And yes, Elvis, Siamese cats originally worked for a living, holding the rings and other jewellery of Siamese princesses when they were taking their baths.
Not a single rumble or boom . . . perhaps the natural storm has run its course. The storm of overwrought emotions, on the other hand, is in full swing.
Beatrix is SO cute with that rosy blush on her cheeks! Does this mean she’s embarrassed by and uncomfortable with strife between her friends? She’s sure trying to soothe ruffled feathers (er, dog fur) in a tactful manner, without vexing Elvis any further (is that even possible?)
For any who are puzzled by the Rhode Island references, here is Georgia’s post from yesterday "Tomorrow is the day! Join me at the Ashaway Free Library in Ashaway, RI at 4:30pm tomorrow (July 30th!) for my talk on cats and comics!
Afterwards I will take a few questions if you have them, and sign your books if you’d like! (Or prints! Or mugs! Bring something for me to sign, I’ll do my best to get my name onto it!)
There will be limited (very limited! This box has 40 books!) copies of ‘Lupin Leaps In’ for sale for $10 (cash, please! I have been waiting for a square reader to come in for card purchases, but it has not arrived in the mail yet Ahhh! Stress! Lol! But as of now cash for sure, of course!)
I am SO looking forward to this, and I hope you are too! And I’ve heard a rumor that a certain sweet dog we all know and love starring in today’s strip might possibly be in attendance…?
Maybe Puck’s appearance in the last panel means we’re about to transition back to the basement and the mysteries there! I wonder how the Man and the Basement Newcomer are doing?
I am hoping that Georgia will do a future strip or strips after the storm is over and Elvis and Trevor are under less stress where Beatrix helps Elvis and Trevor to make peace. I don’t think it is possible in their current storm influenced state of mind.
We’re going to try to possibly stream today’s talk live on the ‘Georgia Dunn – Breaking Cat News’ Facebook page! I can’t make any promises because we’re not certain if we’re going to be able to get a cellphone signal to stream—but we’ll do our best! Check the FB page around 4:35 eastern time to see if we can make it happen!
I don’t think you need to be on Facebook to go to her page, link under About above, and at least with past live Facebook streams they were available later to watch, so even if you can’t watch live, if she is able to get it to work you might be able to watch it later.
Wanted to pass along a nice compliment for BCN. I have the 2018 and 2019 calendars hanging in my cubicle because it always cheers me up to see both. Anyway, a co-worker was sitting and talking with another co-worker who sits in the next open cubicle to mine. She saw the July 2018 calendar picture and asked about it. It’s the one where the three good boys are after the July bug. She commented on the beautiful artwork and that she was very impressed as I told her a bit about BCN. Wasn’t that neat that someone who didn’t know anything about BCN was admiring Georgia Dunn’s beautiful artwork? 8)
If you couldn’t watch her library talk live, it’s archived and available on her Facebook page to watch at any time whether you’re a Facebook member or not at the same URL posted by asrialfeeple above when it was streaming live.
The audio isn’t great. Some of the kids, her own included, were closer to the mic than Georgia was, so sometimes she’s hard to hear over their voices. The man, the toddler and the girl make an appearance. My favorite quote was when she was talking about our current debates over Trevor and Elvis. She said of the comments section, “The best place to disagree on the Internet.” She also said she’s trying to show that Elvis and Trevor really just do not “get” each other, and that it’s going to take some time for them to finally understand that they really aren’t all that different after all. She also gave a sneak peak at some adorable “technical difficulties” slides for the BCN station. I hope she’ll post those to Instagram. Unfortunately, even though Trevor was at the library, he isn’t on the video. And for “All My Children” fans, Angora of "Our IX Lives "speaks in Erica Kane’s voice!
@ladycat Yes, I have a YumYum too. Mine is a blue point applehead Siamese or Siamese mix. Her vet and I are not sure. I found her lost or abandoned in a parking lot. No one claimed her, so I kept her. She was a 6-8 month kitten at the time. I was directing a production of the Mikado at the time so I named her Yum Yum
