So they have a color copier?

While I would like to blame Elizabeth for wasting all that ink for the color copier, I can’t give credit to her. After all, those are a pictures of a creature with a nose that has nostrils. April’s nose is a nostril-free zone.

That has to be the last time El takes Liz to the library as part of “take your child to work day.”

Making faces or read books, making faces or read books? The answer was obvious to Liz.

At least Liz didn’t sit on the copier.

Who’s fault is it more: Elizabeth for getting into the copy room, the library staff for not locking the room properly, or Elly’s for bringing her daughter into work in the first place?

All of those copies probably cost ten cents to fifteen cents or more each back then.

I assume in the original strip they were b/w if they were as in today’s strip color $1-$2.

at least she wasn’t sitting on it!!!

Only because the library doesn’t have photo booths like the arcades do! d;o)

Found something to do…

At least there were no booty shots !!!! lol

That’s nuts. Both my 10 year old grandson and my 4 year old granddaughter rocket to the computers to play games.

Still have a 1985 Monroe copier used for B&W finished art paste up. Easier & less expensive than an old Kenro Copy uptight copy camera using expensive Kodak paper & developer. Oh yes, you can imagine the uses of copiers we had in Hallmark creative departments back in early 60s.

At least it’s only her face.

Every child that has gone to work with a parent who had a free standing copy machine like that has made copies of some part of their body. It’s a once in a lifetime thing, maybe a rite of passage. Then the whole concept of paper and inks costs is explained, and in my case, I was forever afraid to do it again. Many of today’s librarians and teachers are accountable for every page copied under their login.

Despite the obvious that it is a cartoon, in the real world, Liz would be having a difficult time focusing on anything after that intense flash of light when her eyes were open.

Ellie should have brought some activities for Lizzy to do. What did she expect a child to do on her own?

Where is the “moon”?

From what I can see, it wasn’t a public use copier. It was meant for library personnel only. It appears to be in aa supply room. Note shelves have boxes of envelopes and a coffee cup.

Lynn’s Comments:

When copiers became commonplace, everyone squashed and copied their faces…and other personal things, as well. In one office at McMaster University, where a large copier was in constant use, I saw the distinct form of a cat pressed onto the plate glass surface. There were no photocopies left at the scene and there was no cat on the premises. The outcome of the caper was not known, but people did look for scratch marks on the arms of workers in the area.

Trust a child to make use of the resources.

I loved libraries when I was a kid. Books have always been my best friend. If I had been in Elizabeth’s shoes I would have found a book and curled up with it somewhere!

Wonder they will garnish Elly’s paycheck for the new toner?

What!? All head shots, No but scans.

At least they have mug shots to help find the “culprit”.

The copier at the library near my high school (so looong ago) had a coin slot and cost 10 cents per copy.

I sure as hell wouldn’t look right into the bright light of a copier with my eyes wide open like that…I always figured it would sear your retinas!
