“As a noun, FUN was originally a term for a swindler’s ploy or an instance of fraud in the late 1600s, while as a verb it was used to mean to cheat or deceive. Although its meaning has softened over time, this early negative sense still survives when we ‘make fun’ of someone.”

Give them a push. They’ll go downhill a whole lot faster! Then run to the top of the hill and wait for them to bring the sled to you. Take it downhill, then carry it home.

I served as the horse myself this winter while my 2-year-old daughter kept singing “Jingle bells”. Merry were those who passed us!
