Posing for hours for this painting was hard enough on the models. What made it worse was listening to the artist repeatedly say: Let’s see the Amerikaner Rockwell top this!

Hank would have preferred that his wet-behind-the-ears doctor hadn’t had to read the manual before performing a proctology check.

Dear Grandpa, this volume I hold/ may be “literary gold”/ but you’ve started to snore/ and to read it’s a chore / for it lacks a “centerfold”.

It was hard winter in their isolated cabin. Fearing they would have to resort to cannibalism to survive, Tommy passed the hours while waiting for Grandpa to die by reading the cookbook and dreaming of the recipes he would make. Then he reached the chapter on “assisting” the process …

    Reading Devotions to Grandfather

(best viewed by Google Chrome – can translate pages if necessary) has info and links that point to info about this roughly jumbo envelope size painting.

all have info, or links that point to more info, about this artist, perhaps in addition to what’s pointed to by the title URL. The last is in German (again Chrome can translate). Click more… in the Lexicon article for the complete text, and More works under the right side images for, currently, 597 works by him (not this). So far, 15 works by him have been used here.

has the prior work (my just re-added comment there included the same artist info URLs, if you saw them before the blankety blank GoComics Moderator deleted the original comment 6/25).

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (⌘- or Ctrl-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #2252 (July 25, 2019) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment.
