Wow, Morbid the Fiendly Drelb makes a brand-new death threat! And Thick looks so in charge! Not at all slumping, blue, depressed or defeated, just as Locher told the Tribune.
I won’t ask what kind of dose he’s talking about. Dramamine, perhaps, when you look at the waves outside.
Yesterday the gun was in Thick’s left hand. Today it’s back in his right hand. Guess he’s not too tired to dazzle Morbie with his juggling.
Excellent. On top of all the other failings of this strip we can now add spelling. The word is “doze”, not “dose”, unless Tracy is referring to having a bit of meth to help him get through this terrible story.
Thank you Bill – I will be back here in 3 weeks, then.
I grew up with Dick Tracy drawn by Locher - and really enjoyed it (I started reading during the Collins/Locher era)… and even if he is an artist I really admired, now it pains me to see the strip like this.
I will be back as a regular reader March, then - Thanks!
what a sad moment when our hero is about top lose a fight because he needs a little nap. Maybe Morbid will attack when Macy is looking for a glass for his teeth.
36 hours? If you look at the timeline of events for the past 2 years of strips, he gets whisked from one story line to another without even a coffee break. In “Dick Tracy Time” (where a single conversation can consume up to 4 months worth of daily strips) it’s probably been 5 or 6 weeks since he’s even had anything to eat.
We already have the Sunday weekly recap and now the Monday repeat; that only leaves only 5 days a week for any Locher so-called “action” in this strip.
There has been some forward motion in today’s strip! Last week we were told that Thick hadn’t slept in thirty-six hours. Today we learn he hasn’t slept in over thirty-six hours! Time marches on in Locherland!
For the first time in a while, I cannot think of anything appropriate to say. Wifey has The Bachelor on TV and I will probably find it more interesting…….. arrgh, gag! That’s bad, folks!
Good night Tracy, good night Tracy
Good night Tracy, Mordred’s going to kill you now
Merrily he’ll bash your skull,
Bash your skull,
Bash your skull
Merrily he’ll bash your skull and use it as a cup
It’s your own fault Tracy, your own fault Tracy
Your own fault Tracy, you are such a tool
You should have tied him up
Tied him up
Tied him up
You should have tied him up, with that forty pounds of chain
Sleep tight Tracy, sleep tight Tracy
Sleep tight Tracy, as you take that long dirt nap
Your death we anticipate
Anticipate
Anticipate
Your death we anticipate, as we cackle with glee.
Thank you, JCFremont, Maxine_Viller, BillT, woodworker318, marvee, Micheal McMillan and M. Mitchell Marmel.
Marvelous, Wonder Warthog. And you’ve blown Locher’s cover: he’s Harold Hill! When the editors asked how he could possibly replace Chet Gould, he said “Think Tracy!”
“Seventy-six ink blobs led the big charade,
“With a hundred and ten dumb plots right behind.
“There were miles and miles
“of prose that lacked in style,
“There were flaws and flubs of every kind!
“Seventy-six ink blobs came and spoiled our fun
“With a hundred and ten dumb plots right behind
“There were more than a thousand leads
“Springing up like weeds
“But none of them came from a healthy mind.
“There were shapes you’d find in brass spitoons
“Blundering, blundering all along the way.
“Double-talk decisions and loud buffoons,
“Each buffoon trying to wreck the day!
“There were Tribune articles filled with flattery
“Maundering, maundering dumber than before.
“Crazed magpies of ev’ry size
“And jeveniles with shuttered eyes
“That even Locher couldn’t stomach anymore!”

Didn’t we learn, several days ago, that the water level was already up to the attic? Panel three contradicts this notion.

The granary adds and subtracts a first-story overhang. This week it’s there and a week ago Sunday it wasn’t.

Thank god for the exterior shot of the granary. Boy did we need some grounding after half a day without it. T

“Dose off?” No, it’s dosey-doe, because as usual Locher dances around the story.

Mairsy dose and doesy dose and little lambsy divy.
I guess Thick has a code in his dose. He should get out of those wet clothes and into a dry martini.

Oh, I thought the new team was already working on Dick Tracy… I haven’t been back here in 2 years or something … Apparently, I didn’t lose much.
When do we get to see the first strip by Staton and Curtis?
Bill Thompson almost 14 years ago
The new team of Staton and Curtis starts in three weeks.

…So Tracy, WITH HIS LIFE IN DANGER… can’t last 36 hours awake?
I’ve pulled 36 hour all nighters before WITHOUT threats to my life. PANSY!

With any luck, both Spacy and Mordred will drown before either falls asleep.
Araldite almost 14 years ago
Maybe Locher is going to kill off Tracy before Staton & Curtis take over so he can have the last HA HA HO HO HA.
Davison77 almost 14 years ago
This is the most repetitive bunch of bleeep ever. Just stop talking and kill Tracy already!
MrBriberysShrunkenHeads almost 14 years ago
Mordred is actually Quinn The Eskimo?
I would not have figured Locher as a Dylan fan.

DOZE, not DOSE. Sigh…
woodworker318 almost 14 years ago
The reason the water isn’t up to the third level now is that the tide is going out as the storm of the century subsides.
OldTracy almost 14 years ago
Remember that Mordred is the one who is supposed to be heavily sedated. Doesn’t say much for the un-sedated Spacy.

If you can figure out how many hours it’s been since you slept, you aren’t all that tired.
Given all the water, the odds are that Locher’s Last Strip will have someone tell Thick “We’ve arranged a vacation for you! A nice ocean cruise!”
