The decanter with Brandy on the credenza, the art work on the wall (with no pictures), the dimmer switches (a nice touch). But, in the end, the employee who doesn’t open both parts of the door, crawling. Oh my!

ghostkeeper, the “rich” do pay taxes. (Although it’s technically the ‘high income’; look up the difference between an income statement and a balance sheet sometime). The reason they don’t pay even more than the half or so of personal income taxes that they do is that the Jets and the Sharks prefer they pay their protection money directly into their retirement funds in the form of campaign contributions.

ghostkeeper you are a fine example of someone who has been brainwashed. Go study history for yourself and stop listening to the liberal propaganda. Socialism has never worked in any country ever…. Why do you think the USA is the greatest nation on the earth?

It is because of freedom……entrepreneurial freedom as well as religious and the list goes on.. mankind thrives on it! It frees the SOUL rather than enslaving it to a government.

Not a dutch door: hinges of different sides top and bottom, an innovaton that may have confused the employee.

Excuse me, odeliasimone, but you likewise appear to have been a bit brainwashed. Rather than history, I would suggest you read up on your political philosophy. Look up Socialism in Wikipedia and first of all you will discover there are over a dozen different flavors of socialism. So which one of them is it that doesn’t work?

I will agree with you that any sort of “pure socialism” probably will not work. However, mixed socialism is alive and well in quite a few places. England has socialized health care and the wealthy can opt for private care if they desire. Their broadcasting is mixed with the government owned BBC competing with capitalistic indpendent broadcasters.

Several of the Scandinavian countries have extensive “socialist” programs which seem to mix quite well with their democratically elected parliments. Socialism does not spell the end of freedom when it is tempered with reason.

I love America and agree it is a great country. However, I am not so blind as to deny we have some huge problems. Unlike the Founding Fathers who believed in working for the common good (read the preface to the Constitution and The Federalist), our government seems intent on helping the wealthy and taking away what little the poor may have. Instead of the common good, it is now everybody is on his/her own.

And the most ironic thing about my last comment is that this is being done by so many “Christians” who obviously have not read their Bible very closely. Just try to count the thousand and more references to caring for the poor and the warnings to the rich to not lay back in their luxury while the poor suffer. It can be a very eye-opening experience to see how these fake Christians are perverting what they profess to believe.

Before you criticize someone maybe you should walk a nanometer in their shoes. (updated for today’s practiced indifference)

Tax the rich and corporations even more? Then they will make up for it by placing higher prices on their goods and services so WE end up paying the taxes for them. Sure, GO for it, stupid.

Odel: if socialism doesn’t work why are we buying all our goods from China? and you may want to ask the guy who made you AMANA fridge if it works or not.

Earl: Thanks for pointing out who’s really in charge so long as we rely on capitalism: the evil in man’s nature. Not that socialism is any better. Just stop being foolish enough to think there IS a better.

odeliasimone said, about 7 glasses of Kool-Aid ago: “…Why do you think the USA is the greatest nation on the earth?”

    Is this a trick question?

    Define “greatest.”

Did you mean highest standard of living? Oops, that’s not us; several European countries do better.

Did you mean healthiest? Oops, we’re just barely ahead of Cuba.

Did you mean happiest? Nope, the taxed-to-death-but-loving-it Danes have us beat there.

Did you mean the most peaceful? Not even close.

Did you mean the freest? We lead the “free world” in the percentage of our population that’s behind bars.

So just how do you define “great”? We lead the world in military spending (both overall and per capita), but beyond that it’s hard to find an area in which we are “Number One!”

Assuming that is a light switch to the right of the door, then it’s behind the upper door when/if that door is open.

    Interesting.

TexTech – Thank you – those fake Christians think that all they have to do is give to their church and all will be taken care of – while many of them are living on welfare themselves.

No form of government has ever been perfect because those who choose to become “leaders” are seldom good (much less perfect). The best we can hope for is people who will be fairly good and relatively fair handed in charge of government, and even that is RARE.
