And the cats slowly leave the room. Because they’ve got Cthulhu on speed-dial, and their wondering what’s taking him so long to deliver the pizza they ordered.
I’m really trying to get my 11 year old granddaughter to show some interest in my ’library" of books, and trying even harder to keep the 2 year old way from them (for now)
So nice that Doug wants a physical book (instead of an electronic one). Doesn’t matter what he “reads” at this point…so long as he wants to read. What a cutie….look at that face! Love his stretchy arms in the 1st panel. And does he have a bit more hair now????
I agree with that prediction of results. I was more of the sleepless nights variety. However, it is sort of like watching the Friday the 13th movies. I wouldn’t recommend it, but if you don’t, you’re missing out.
I’ve always deeply appreciated Mr. Lovecraft’s prose (I’m not crazy about ANY POETRY, not just his), but I have a possibly ‘unique’ view of his “Cthulhu Mythos” stories. To me, they’re stories about the dangers of wandering off and leaving your house unprotected; coming back to find an infestation in YOUR domicile and the “infesters” that aren’t running from you, screaming, are actively trying to kill you! My heart goes out to poor old Cthulhu.
(Mind, you, I’m not willing to surrender his “house” without a fight; I just sympathize with the being!)

Going from Neil Gaiman to Lovecraft. What an interesting adult he is going to be.

Sigh, if he’d only won… ☺

Collected Works at the Internet Archive. His short story ‘Herbert West: Reanimator’ was made into the 1985 cult movie titled just simply, Reanimator

Maybe they could go with The Call of Cthulhu for Beginning Readers. Doug’s probably still too young, though.

I wonder how Doug could pick up the book? The complete works of HP Lovecraft probably weighs more than he does!

Note that Lovecraft himself called his loose collection of stories “the Yog-Sothoth mythos”.

The illustrations alone will keep him awake. Or mom and dad awake.
