hey scratch...
Im gobba kilt your
blaff? Kliff your abb?
Nate: hows it going, jonas?
Jonas: well, you were right, nate a little too windy to day for sky writing...
There are definitely rats in this comic strip. Tomato, tomahto, I guess it’s all in how you like your rodents. Why are they starting a fight with Scratch anyway? He doesn’t seem to pick on them too much. As a tall person, I usually find that the short ones are the first to start a fight.
Scratch is the aggressor. He was brought aboard the Green Pirates’ ship not in response to mice on their own ship, but to kill the mice on the Revenge. He makes late night raids on the Revenge, and kills. The crew of the Revenge, unlike some of the readers here, have no desire to see the mice killed. The mice are their friends, and Scratch is the killer of their friends.
Like most cats, Scratch kills not just for food but for sport. I can’t recall whether Scratch tortures his prey before killing them, but if he does not he’s the exception among cats and not the rule.
The Green Pirates and the crew of the Revenge fight often, with enthusiasm and animosity, but pains are taken to ensure that nobody on either side is seriously hurt. Scratch kills. He has no redeeming qualities, no comic value. Toss him to the sharks, and soon.
I personally feel that the strip should glorify Louie. Louie is what we all wish we could be. Loyal, friendly, diligent and trustworthy. Unless someone stokes the bbq or offers treats that no dog could possibly turn down.
aaf709 My wife and I had rabbits and believe this, it wouldn’t be a match. One rabbit, Gray Man, terroized every cat and small dog with whom he came in contact.
I’d like to see some of the old gang, that’s what I’d like to see! I miss Seahawk, Janey, Marlene, Cecilia, the Crow’s Nest, etc. And the trips into town to various places.
Scratch is a decent character - doesn’t ‘abuse’ the rules, doesn’t act like an dumb idiot who thinks he has the rule. The mice (rats), on the otherhand think they are better then the crew, and don’t have to listen to the rules. Destroy the rats I say.

Try writing it a foot or two over Scratch’s head Jonas. That might start to solve this strip’s rodent problem.

Mornin’ Crew … I seem to be missing a rat infested comic… (wish I could block any that had the rats … c’est le vie)
Have a great day!

There are no rats in this comic strip. Just Pirates, a couple of dogs, some friendly mice, and the occasional sea creature.
Oh yes, and one loathesome purple cat, without whom the strip would be greatly improved.

Ha–good one. Although, I doubt that Jonas’ intended message would’ve gone past the censors anyway …
Personally, I really like Jonas and the mice, since they provide some good laughs. Just my two cents’ worth.
Good Friday Evening, Crew.

I agree wholeheartedly, Fritzoid. Ditch the ugly cat.
