“Employees at a Hong Kong crisp factory got a nasty shock when they discovered a World War I-era grenade in a pile of potatoes imported from France. The mud-coated device was likely left in a trench 100 years ago.
They make them look baffled, but they could “read” to some degree, especially after recording the first album. Paul has composed symphonies in more recent decades.
It’s kind of like people who can understand spoken foreign languages, but can’t read or write in a foreign in language. A lot of musicians can play chords, but can’t actually read music when it’s written. For example, Blues guitar legend B.B. King, could not play chords.

If the Beatles couldn’t read music, how did they write down the songs and notes they composed for them to remember and for others to play?

The Beatles had George Martin — what do you think he did as the arranger and producer — stuff was written down.

You don’t need to know how to read and write words to be a storyteller, you don’t need to know how to read and write music to be a musician.
