My nomination for the greatest movie of all time in this respect is “League of Their Own.” It is a movie that men and women like, set between a chick flick opening and finale. Just as the movie is about to start, excuse yourself to go to the men’s room and the concessions, come back about the time the flashback starts. When it comes back to present time excuse yourself to go to the men’s room again.
My wife has hundreds of movies on her storage devices, we watch one every other month. She may watch more by herself, don’t know as I go to bed long before she does and get up much earlier – 3:45 am today. One of the dogs was barking for no reason.
It. WAS an outing that was fun to go together. Always exciting to see parts of new movie, coming out on VHS or DVD playing on the tv they haven’t yet gotten or had a long waiting list for it.
What do they have in common? Their tastes don’t intersect then they will have a hard time. Or Arlo can watch something his wife picks out so that they can be together.
Never a problem – we both like the same movies – which is most of the movies made. About a year ago I threw out the card in my wallet for the Royal $1 Video rental store we used to go to. I figured that since it was now a sub sandwich place I did not need it any longer. We used to rent before movies became reasonable to buy – about 35 years ago.
Used to go to the local Blockbuster with my wife and two daughters, when they were young. It was kind of fun, in a way, and another way to get out of the house in winter, etc.— without spending any real money. There was also a place from a smaller rental chain located nearby, we went there too. Maybe I don’t “miss” it that much— but on the other hand, it’s not a bad memory from years gone by, either.

Probably not in the same sections. Arlo – RomCom. Janis – Action/Adventure.

Those days were horrible, aisles and aisles of awful movies

Or Janis as the spy. Dig back through 5 year or more to the week where they did Boris & Natasha or several similar themes for about 3 weeks.

Video stores were a great source for foreign films, which I preferred to “Hollywood” junk.

I can’t say I miss those days at all, actually. Well, I do, but not for that reason.

Now its ten time worse on line with PrimeVideo and Netflicks, et all and we can spend forever trying to pick something we both like and just give up.

Arlo’s being nostalgic in a romantic sense, and you throw cold water on him with reality, Janis.

“How about this?”
“No, how about this?”
“No, how about this?”
“No, how about this?”
“No, how about this?”
“NO! How about we go home?”
“Sure. You wanna bite to eat first?”
“Sure. Chinese?”
“Nah. Mexican?”
“Nope. Italian?”
