Bloom County 2019 by Berkeley Breathed for September 03, 2019

This feels like goodbye almost…

You’ve been waiting so long, the flora is taking over.

Is there hope for humankind – maybe.

A very L O N G hard night (mare).

It’s going to be an ugly year ahead, but one can hope it will end with the definitive end to the worst administration in American history.

OK, it’s political – but in a nice way. (Maybe both sides can learn from this.)

“Hope springs eternal in the human breast; Man never Is, but always To be blest. The soul, uneasy, and confin’d from home, Rests and expatiates in a life to come.”

Until the democrats wake up and decide to choose their own candidates instead of letting a few powerful people dictate who gets to run and who gets tossed to the side we are going to continue this downward trend. I they had allowed anyone but Hillary run back in 2016 they would have won in a landslide. Since the powers to be decided that Hillary was going to be the next breakthrough (they had successfully elected an almost black President and next was to be a female president show everyone how inclusive they were) the majority of democrats stayed home instead of voting and allowed Trump to pull the upset. If these same loyal democrats that stayed home instead of voting continue to allow those few powers to dictate the democrat candidate may have that same problem in 2020 that they had in 2016. The irony is that the democrats claim to be the party of the people and call the republican party the party of the rich yet allow a few rich powerful people to make all the decisions for the party no matter what the desires of the people are.

Funny. . .I thought this could be about Hurricane Dorian over the Bahamas. Those people are having one of the hardest nights in recent history. But perhaps not, since these guys work weeks ahead. However, it is interesting to have a cartoon that’s open to interpretation. . .

Hardest night this country has had in a long, long time.

On a side topic, I know that Frank is a great guy but since he showed up the wonderful dynamic between Steve and Sam the Lion got derailed. Sam brought out the best in Steve and the strips that featured Steve trying to help him out (and becoming a better man himself) were my favorites of the new run of Bloom County.

United States of Amnesia: Football season returns. Watching HongKongers struggling to hold onto their democratic rights, couldve served as beacon, but you’d have to care first, pay close attention to details, get off a couch.

Bloom seems to have lost it’s old charm.

God-dammit, either produce some new comics, you’ll be gone from my list of comics I peruse every day. At least Trudeau gives us a new effort on Sunday! There is so much political behavior waiting to be mocked . . . I am so sorry you burned out.

Like so many other people, I am sure, I now just pass this by and miss the days when Berkeley Breathed was clever.

how much longer until a new strip?

I think it’s time to stop spending money on any more books—the next one will probably be 7 or 8 pages including the title page.

It is a good-bye to an America that probably never was except in the minds of a few benighted souls. It is also a hopeful anticipation of a dawn that probably isn’t coming. I do hope it is not the end of BLOOM COUNTY 2019. Now more than ever dissenting voices need to be heard.

Why hasn’t there been an update here for the last 3 weeks? If more comics have been posted by BB why aren’t they here?
