Then there are the people who others expect to be well informed (and usually they aren’t), who use the terms "I heard … " or “So I’ve been told …”, implying they received the information from a reliable source (which usually doesn’t exist).

Other people use, “Bless his/her heart”, but usually talking about someone else not in attendance.
As in, “That is one ugly baby, bless his heart.”
