Lily… She Who Must Be Obeyed!

So, chirping before 5 A.M. is okay? I’ve heard chirping outside my windows as early as 4 A.M.

Today is:

National Skyscraper Day

National Another Look Unlimited Day. Hey – this happened to me once years and years ago – probably the mid-1980’s. A friend of my sister, Mary, trimmed my hair and gave me “feathered” bangs, which were popular back then (sort of like what Farrah had). One day while walking to the post office, a guy looked my way, then he turned around and took another look. Never thought I could turn a man’s head!

National Welsh Rarebit Day. I remember an episode of Gomer Pyle where he started eating Welsh Rarebit every night and it gave him crazy dreams and caused him to walk in his sleep and tell off Sgt. Carter. Funny!

U.S. Bowling League Day. My brother, Daniel, and I were in a summer league for 2 summers – mixed teams of 5 players per team. We had 3 senior citizens on our team. One year, our team name was the Gutter Dusters. We were not the worst team in the league, but not the best either. Pretty much in the middle. I think my average was around 125 and my best game was 166. By playing in the summer league, we got free open bowling all summer and believe me, we did a LOT of bowling those 2 summers! Often 10 games in a row. I have my own ball and my own bowling shoes, but it’s been years since I’ve been bowling. And the bowling alley where we played is a strip club now :(

Lily is a late riser, I gather.

We are back from the cabin, where we had a week of rest and relaxation, combined with some work.

UPDATE: Got up tired. The bandage covering my incision has started to come loose. I will ask my GP when I see him today, if it is ok to remove it.

You can add “beeping” chipmunks and barking dogs to that list.

Today’s strip made me laugh out loud. I can see Lily being able to enforce this edict.

I once had a neighbor like Lily. Wanted me – and everyone else – to wait until late morning before working in the garden – in the middle of summer.

Lily’s reputation precedes her. Why are lawnmowers so dang noisy???

No one is safe from Lily’s wrath. No one! Not even harmless little birds. Unlike Lily, I enjoy listening to birds chirping. Sounds quite peaceful. On another note, had a barbecue with my family on Monday to celebrate Labor Day.
