I feel your pain, Larry. Been through it multiple times. But rarely, very rarely, I have had the opposite happen, and it’s sweet when it does.

If Toby was more computer savvy, I would suspect he had a hand in it.

The traffic lights in Portland are well synchronized, IF you were able to do the speed limit!

One would think by now they would have invented “intelligent traffic lights”. A lot of pollution is generated by stopped cars while the opposite side has no traffic.. or a pedestrian activates a cross walk signal.. then crosses before the light gives him permission.. so we wait for nothing.

Some days you’re just OUT of SYNC. It’s a bummer. So always take a rose and sniff it when you’re stopped.

Automated lights that work off sensors are almost guaranteed to stop traffic. There is no traffic so the light is red. It stays red until the traffic arrives, then after a delay (long enough to stop the oncoming traffic) they turn green. The result is convoys of traffic getting stopped at every light.

If I’m early, all the lights are green. If I’m running late, they’re all red. Never fails.
