I’m not too sure… now hot herbal tea with frozen juice concentrate, THAT’S a mixed drink (won’t matter if that concoction is served hot, warm, or refrigerated).
I was introduced to the practice in boot camp, where, it seems, the southern boys would do that. They also liked to pour sugar onto two slices of bread as a sandwich.
First time I saw this was when I was just staring out in Post Office. A carrier had a 6 ounce bottled Coke and poured a package of Tom’s peanuts in the bottle. I went eww!
Never heard of while growing up in New York state. But we did see recurring ads for “Dr. Pepper Hot with Lemon” (Heat the soda, pour it in a mug over a thin slice of lemon – see: https://tinyurl.com/yxo2vsmq).
We tried it – tasty enough, just not worth trying again.

Disgusting! I tried that when it was a fad when I was a kid, like 40 years ago, and never liked it, plus it usually makes the cola to burst.

That’s me, except for me it’s Cherry Coke & peanuts. The perfect pick-me-up for 2-3 pm sleppys

Did anybody try that with Beer ? Don’t drink soda pop.

I’ve never seen it in a can only in a bottle.

Never peanuts in coke but I did do peanuts in beer. The salt brought extra flavor in the beer, likely due to the carbonation foaming.

First I heard of it was in the song. “I was Country Before Country was Cool” or something like that. One line was about putting peanuts in my Coke.

I have never tried peanuts in my cola, but now never will because I no longer drink colas. In any case, it does not sound good to me.

Lynchburg, TN. Shouldn’t she be pouring Jack into that coke?

Cans don’t work as well. It’s got to be a bottle. Preferably a long-necked glass bottle.

RC Cola, short for Royal Crown Cola, and peanuts with a Moon Pie.

Mr. Brookins, it works better with a bottle than a can.

In my day, we put the peanuts in a cola BOTTLE. Kind of hard to get them out of a can.
