Autumn has always been my favorite time of year. The leaves changing colors. The time of harvest. The looking forward with anticipation to the coming Winter. Halloween and Thanksgiving.
There’s a crispness in the air that just isn’t present in any of the other seasons.
I was around when Simon and Garfunkel’s album came out, thought it a great song. A few years ago, David Draiman and Disturbed did a cover of it and, well, I still get goose bumps from it…
“The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls…” True – in any reasonably free country the ultimate future is more in the hands of social consensus than in any individual politician or party.
Autumn is my favorite time of the year, followed by Winter. Spring is okay, I love the flowers and the temperatures are usually pretty nice. Summer I can do without. I hate heat and humidity. If I get cold in Winter, I can put on more clothes or snuggle under an afghan with a cup of hot tea. In Summer, there is only so much I can take off then all the neighbors start screaming “Oh my eyes! MY EYES!”
Hello darkness my old friend I’ve come to talk with you again because a vision softly creeping left it seeds while I was sleeping and the vision that was planted in my brain still remains within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone narrow streets of cobblestone ‘neath the halo of a streetlamp I turned my color to the cold and damp when my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light that split the night and touched the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw 10,000 people maybe more people talking without speaking people hearing without listening people writing songs that voices never share and no one dared disturbed the sound of silence.Fools said I you do not know silence like a cancer grows hear my words that I might teach you take my arms that I might reach you but my words like silent raindrops fell and echoed in the wells of silence. And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made. And the sign flashed out it’s warning in the words that it was forming and the sign said the words of the profits are written on the subway walls and tenements halls and whispered in the sound of silence.
