JFri spent the evening playing UNO while I was out watching the supermoon. It was huge and we had a clear evening so it was most impressive.

Yeah, they took the moon down this way after 8:00 PM so I couldn’t see it when I was done playing cards. They have this you snooze, you lose philosophy of astronomy in Oregon.

I thought for sure it would cloud up here, but all day yesterday was sunny and so is this morning. The moon lit up our house like a floodlight.

It was pretty, but the full moon last month looked WAY bigger than last nights.It was much bigger and much prettier. It always seems to be when it comes up in that particular spot. Around here, the full moon wasn’t that “much of a much”!

The supermoon from what I have heard was at it’s best on the west coast.

Well it wasn’t at it’s best here, pretty, but nothing to write home about. Glad I didn’t set up the telescope!

Dry I guess we are at war too. I didn’t realize, as I didn’t see the news, just a headline.

The moon wasn’t as big where you live Dry, because it was on the west coast! ;-D

I forgot about the full moon, but that explains why I didn’t sleep much last night. My body always knows when it’s a full moon, even if my mind forgets.

Hola Shika! Looks like I missed your appearance.

I have been watching the predictions by Jim Berkland that California or the west coast might have an earthquake this week. He predicted the San Francisco quake in 1989 just days before it happened. He says the signs point to the California area.

Hola Tabby & Dry. Basics for dinner tonight, meatloaf with wild mushrooms and dry sherry with a chipotle glaze along with garlic mashed potatoes.

cleo if that’s an invite, I’m there! How do you make your meatloaf?

This is the first time I have tried these ingredients and I am just making this up so I will let you know if it is good or not. I sauteed onion and garlic in olive oil with diced crimini mushrooms, as these browned I added dry sherry and cooked let it simmer until the sherry liquid was almost gone. I used some whole wheat and semolina bread that I had made and soaked it in milk. I chopped it up and added it along with a pound of ground veal and a pound of ground beef, plus fresh sage and thyme and soaked, chopped, dry wild mushrooms and salt and pepper. I am going to glaze it with 2 Tbls. Ketchup mixed with 1 Tbs. pureed chipotle in adobo. It is cooked in a 9x13 pan on parchment paper formed into a loaf by hand, but I am also making a little loaf in a pan for LilG’s mom.

At least Baldo gets excercise hunting down the icecream truck!

Why I little loaf for LilG’s mom? To take home?

Your meat loaf recipe is definately fancier than mine! I make it different ways, but mostly I use bread crumbs, egg, onion soup mix, ketchup or tomato sauce, sage, thyme, parsley, sometimes fresh garlic, I may be forgetting something, if I have bacon I drape some strips across the top, and the last ten minutes in the oven I add a glaze of ketchup, mustard, brown sugar and vinegar.

And I LOVE cold meatloaf sandwiches the next day.

I’m here Shika! I think the posts are posting late yet again! Well, I guess they haven’t fixed the avatar problem either, but my puppy is cute, so I guess it doesn’t matter to me much!

Dry, this was the best meatloaf that I have ever had. I said that I used beef and veal, but actually it was pork and veal, but the flavors were wonderful and I served it with mashed potatoes with garlic, onion, red pepper flakes, butter, basil, buttermilk, salt and pepper. They worked very well together. This is the first meatloaf that LilG has ever liked.

cleo She must be fussy! I eat just about anything if no tree nuts are involved! LOL! And you would really have to screw up meatloaf for me not to like it!

Cold meatloaf sandwiches are wonderful alright! So, pine nuts are a tree nut, can you eat them?

If I’m in a restaurant and it’s part of the ingredient in a meal I would like to have, I pass and find something else.

Dry, I am sorry for your nut allergies as I love nuts. You know…sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don’t! nyuk, nyuk
