Mad lost me with their reboot or whatever you want to call it, in 1997. In the interest of trying to get a new younger readership, they became more crude and juvenile — starting with the infamous cover that showed Alfred sitting on a copy machine, xeroxing his bare butt. Never read it again, except for collections of the great old material.
I’ve had a subscription for years. Before that (when I just got them from the newsstands), I learned to draw cartoons by copying ones in my Mad magazine.

I’ve read every issue since #1 I’m really going to miss it. Did I mention that I’m older than Mud? Wish I had kept them all.

If all the people that lament the downfall of MAD magazine had purchased it, Alfred E. Neuman wouldn’t have to worry.
Oh well, I’ll be looking for the end of the year issue.

Don’t miss the magazine. It never caught on with my video-game generation and younger. But I will miss the spy vs spy board game.
