frequently see a lady who is looking only at the screen of her latest digital offspring while pushing her toddler in a stroller. Toddler looking around and talking, but mommy disconnected. Not a lot of the best form of bonding there. For the record, some dads are no better.
I think that a restaurant banning the use of smart phones on the premises might make a good business. Force people to actually talk. At the campground where I leave my trailer ( a 44 footer with a Florida room) no one has a phone on around the campfire. Amazing how you actually enjoy speaking to others. I have a cell phone, but I use it for a really strange reason. No texting, no cruising the net, no games. I actually make phone calls with it, nothing else.
Wonder if this woman is married to the man in today’s “Bliss” comic who’s pretending to read a paperback book so that his son will go away and bother his mother instead of him?
Either way, both these people should be ashamed of themselves for ignoring their kids when they’re standing right there in front of them — obviously in need of their parents’ time and attention at that particular moment in time.
A couple years back I read a story how the cops were called to this residence about “child neglect” ,upon entry the place was totally filthy and so were the children. But when they checked out the rest of the lady’s house, her computer room was immaculate…talk about a disconnect.

Nothing like seeing a family at a restaurant all on their phones.
