I think that the toon left out the greased slide just below the door. (and the shark pit at the other end)

“Sorry, but a ‘window’ is not a door, sir.”

Yes sir, I’ll start emptying my desk immediately. It was a pleasure sir. Good day sir."

seems there was a slight reconstruction just like that done in an oddly shaped room in DC. Since then the only sounds are the clicking of fingernails and muttered imprecations against imagined slights. It is the home of the twitterpated buttercup a rare one-off in nature. May we never see its like again.

When he said he would have an open door policy he meant the trapdoor under the chair in front of his desk!

Well, just because he leaves the door open, does not mean he wants the little people just waltzing in and talking to him. He is busy. “Same as it ever was.”

I heard that the standard mindset for boards of directors looking for a new CEO is to ask “What are your salary requirements?” One guy says “a million dollars”, and the next says “two million dollars”, so they go with the 2nd one because he displays more confidence. It may not be true, but it sure would explain how we got where we are today.

Better than the one where the door opens onto the spring-loaded trap door. I’ve had bosses who would indeed talk to you if you asked, but who held a grudge forever after if you actually used the privilege of talking to them.

Our last Engineering Director had an open door policy, he was just never in his office, nor on the premises much.
