Because “applause” has far more letters in it than “blog,” and would have been a lot more work, and used up a lot more of my Sharpie.

And to confirm Teresa’s hunch, yes, this photo was snapped in California. Pacifica, to be precise.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. This is a common error born of perceptual learning. I’m a trained linguist and it took me quite a while to spot the typo.
