This transformation magic is scary in its implications. It makes me think of the transporter on Star Trek. Was that squirrel killed? Is it the same squirrel or a copy? If you did it to a person would it really be them when you brought them back? Or would you have killed that original person and replaced him with a copy? If humans have souls, would the restored person have a soul or would it have moved on when the original was killed. Regardless, this is a comic and it’s funny that she almost transformed her mean older brother.
WHAT!?! And after Olwen was surprised Salem hadn’t already dealt with Ivan she’s going to stop Clover from dealing with him? Does she have something else in mid for him? Or does the clapping do something different to humans that turn them into piles of dust? Like maybe impart them with special abilities that Olwen doesn’t want Ivan to have. Or maybe bring out their true nature as their sole personality. Ivan’s bad enough already, but I could see his true nature turning him into the worst kind of demon.
I just realized why Olwen stopped Clover despite my earlier post. July 31st (https://www.gocomics.com/swan-eaters/2019/07/31?ct=v&cti=1552545), Olwen tells Clover not to share what she’s teaching her with any of her brothers and sisters. Except for Salem. Ivan just asked why their clapping. Clover would have unwittingly been sharing some of Olwen’s secrets with the worst possible individual by clapping him into dust and then returning him to normal. Both the blue bird and the squrriel seemed to realize something had happened (the blue bird came back questioning what just happened with a bit of an upset look on it’s face while the squrriel came back shaking it’s fist at them, pretty clearly knowing they were behind what just happened), chances are Ivan would figure it out when he returned to normal. Ivan, in control of the schimba would be a truely terrifiying thing.

As tempting as it is . . . don’t. (And believe me, I’ve been tempted!)

Aw grandma, you’re no fun anymore!

It’s a comics truism. You must use your special powers for good and not for evil or selfish purposes or you will come to regret it.

So tempting!

The temptation to not transform him back into an angry squirrel is too great.

Ha! Looks like it might be Clover who takes care of that boy instead of Salem. But Olwen doesn’t want that weight on her while she’s so little.

I love the gleeful (innocent) smile on her face as she is about to show him what she’s learned.
Maybe Grandma needs to wait until AFTER her first clap (turning him to dust) and before the second clap (reverting him to .. um.. “normal”) ;)
