I walked around our neighborhood yesterday, and some people still have Christmas lights up from last year. The desire to avoid unexciting work drives some to great lengths.
We have had local large, lighted, and inflated spiders in front yards for some time! Yesterday, on the way to Aldis, I saw a ten-foot wide one in black and chartreuse.
Christmas trees and decorations were in stores in early Oct. So foolish and depressing. Question: if retailers have big price reductions for possible gifts in Oct and Nov, why do they complain of flat sales in Dec, which used to be the big month? Folks have money to spend only one time for gifts.
around my area there are homes that had great fun decorating for Halloween. Sadly, though, there are less and less Trick or Treaters. They often go to some community event to show off their costumes and collect candy.
What with all the pumpkin-colored Jack-o-lanterns and the even more vivid orange flame inside them, maybe the real question is why orange seems to be kind of the official Thanksgiving color.
Maybe the question is when Halloween lights came to be a thing. Because I don’t remember them until the past 5-10 years, and now they’re everywhere.
Maybe the question is why people put them up early enough to make me think about them back when this particular episode was due to be written.
Or maybe the question is whether I should have let that one go and written about something else. Sometimes you see them when it’s too late to change anything and think of things you might have changed. So it goes. This one’s not exactly a lemon, but it does have an orangey tinge to it.

Duh. Because then they wouldn’t have to buy new ones every month. Do you want to bring the whole U.S. economy to a standstill?

Only the lit ones are orange. The burnt out ones are black.
