Christmas will be here soon enough.
Mr. Watterson’s poems sure are amazing.
(SNIFF) That’s beautiful!
Calvin’s finally got the true Christmas spirit.
speechless sniff
Miss Wormwood is right. Calvin really CAN write beautifully when he puts his mind to it!
Wow, that is good
So how did the papers cut this down to fit?
They sleep everywhere, in summer under the tree and now under the Christmas Tree!!
I just wish Bill would return like Gary Larson (Far Side) and Berkeley Breathed (Bloom County) have.
Kudos, again and always.
What a beautiful strip. Thank you Mr. Watterson, and Merry Christmas.
This is truly one of my all time favorites.
Ho Ho Ho
And Calvin and Hobbes miss Santa again this year! At least we got a beautiful poem out if it!
Masterpiece.
nice!
Two nuts roasting by an open fire…
Wherever you are Mr. Watterson: Thank you. Christmas Blessings always.
Awwww…….
I think Mr. Watterson got tired of people saying ‘wow’ all the time.
wonderfull
Sweet!
Very well structured poem. Scans well.
reminds me of Robert Frost, very nice!
“But I heard him exclaim / ere he drove out of sight/ ‘Happy Christmas to all, / and to all a Good Night!’” Clement Clarke Moore, December 23, 1823.
Aww..sniff
Someone commented on another comic strip about posting a Christmas strip on the eve of Chanukah as if it were a bad thing. Frankly, any message of peace and good will should be welcomed by all.

the last line is the best, that even Calvin knows trhe wonder of the night.
People who dismiss this strip as just about a rotten little kid have missed more than they can ever know.
Wonder how Bill spends his holidays these days …
The most peaceful I’d seen Calvin and Hobbes. To all readers, enjoy the festivities and Happy New Year.
Such a tender and loving poem from Calvin!!
Mr Thompson (Cul du Sac) has his own genius, but nothing surpasses Mr Watterson.
Surprised Calvin’s parents let him sleep downstairs. I imagined he and Hobbes snuck down there after bedtime.
This strip is still on my Mother’s fridge. A little yellowed but we had it laminated.
I don’t know if it’s possible to get something like this anywhere else.
excellent!
That is SO sweet. Very unlike most of Calvin!
This is beautiful!
Bill Watterson: It rhymes, it scans, it’s clever, it’s tender. You’re my poet laureate.
Calvin is waiting for tomorrow and he’s not griping about how long it’s taking to arrive. Now THAT is a true CHRISTMAS MIRACLE! Beautiful poem!
As Phil’s camera man (Groundhog Day) said after his last speech: “Hey Man, you touched me!”
Wonderful, simply wonderful. :)
Awwww!!
I just ordered a print of this. I can’t wait to see it.
