Mother taught me to use leaves as an overwinter mulch. I just tuck them around the plants and add a layer of protection. Yesterday, I made a chicken wire enclosure in the vegetable garden to (hopefully) allow remaining leaves to decompose into nutrient rich soil. I know,it sounds like a lot of work but I have more time than money to buy the weighty, packaged product.
If you keep only cars and bikes in your garage, you will not have to clean it. It is all that junk that some people keep in their garage – you know, the stuff they never use but once

Back in the ’50s that was common where I grew up. The smell made it feel like Autumn.

We used to burn our leaves when I was a kid (50s and early 60s), but it’s no longer allowed.

I vacuum up the leaves and they get shredded at the same time. Then they go on the blueberry beds.

We always just ran our lawn mower through the leaves and left the resulting mulch on the grass to decompose and fertilise the law.

I had 12-15 citrus trees. Just ran the mower over the leaves and let nature take care of things. that worked fine.
