Another successful Halloween has come and gone in spite of the 9 bags of chocolate eyeballs vanishing. We had just over 200 visitors averaging 10 minutes a visit. No complaints about it being lame or not scary enough either. One young lady even said that the backyard wasn’t as scary as she had convinced herself it was going to be. She had almost scared herself into not going back. And that, dear Orbsters, is the secret to a successful scare. Set the stage and let them frighten themselves.
So good to see Goldie finally make contact. Tommy is quite a goodwill ambassador. Goldie is a beautiful cat and I know her magnificent tail poofs will give Elvis quite a bit of competition. Happy Halloween everyone!
Tommy has experience rescuing cats beginning with Elvis. Tommy will see to it that Goldie is safe tonight and will find a good home. Wonder where that wil be????
Back to a place that’s safe and nice and warm. With this adventure over….they should all take a nice long cat nap (even the robber/video recording mice. They are still working the cameras for documentation maybe for an upcoming investigative report like undercover mice.
I love how quickly Goldie bounces back from the negativity of the raccoons. Awww and Tommy and Beatrix were the best kitties to be the bridge between herself and the Boys! Mr. and Little Miss Positivity! ♥
We, as usual, had no trick-or-treaters last night; however, from the photos I received, all the children in my extended family had a wonderful time. This morning, we have snow and high winds. Something fell over with a tremendous crash outside, but I am not investigating in the dark!
This is off topic, but I just need to write it out. I lost my job yesterday.
For the last 5 years I have worked for a plumbing wholesaler in Missouri. I joined them after our family construction business closed. We ran that business for 16 years and finally shut the doors when our income, my age, and health were no longer viable for that business model. I joined the plumbing wholesaler as the Showroom Manager and worked that until they bought out another company in town and merged. After that. I was transitioned to be a Buyer. The products I was buying were industrial plumbing parts and items, many of which I did not know by name or item number. It was not an easy transition.
A Buyer is in a terrible situation. You are in trouble with your Boss if you buy too much of an item and you are in trouble with salesmen if you don’t have exactly what they need on the self, when they need it.
Yesterday, my Bosses Boss called me in and told me that they were going in different direction and that I was being let go. I was not being fired for cause but I know I was the highest paid of the three Buyers we had. They also were making a big investment in a new computer program that did most of the functions of my job.
Bottom line, I am 56 years old with significant arthritis, a wife of 27 years, and two wonderful high school kids – one of whom is training to be a classical Ballet Danseur in Connecticut. I am scared, and hardly slept last night. I have never felt as lost, not even after our family business closed.
Halloween report from North Carolina: we placed a bowl of candy outside our apartment door. By 9:00, the majority of what was taken out of the bowl had been re-routed to the Boy’s bedroom.
OT – TRIVIA Hi to anyone who plays FunTrivia. I noticed a severe lack of BCN quizzes on there, so I made one… unfortunately, it is currently rated as “Impossible” because only people who don’t know BCN have played it! So I wanted to invite any other trivia and BCN lovers to take it: https://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Entertainment/Breaking-Cat-News-399203.html
Hoping the quiz will spur some “newbies” to BCN to check out the comic, too!
Hello, everyone! Long time no see! This will be a little off topic, but this is really important. I came to you to share with my little joy about what happens to me last months) I start to draw a comic with one girl as a part of the competition in one fan club, about world of modern DJs. It’s on russian for now, but I’m planning to translate it to English when we’ll end the first chapter and release one one secret forum (or two). It looks a little bit sloppy, but if it gets a good feedback, it can be redrawn more professional. I want to share with you some frames from my half of work: https://sun9-39.userapi.com/c851016/v851016738/1d2f85/veQw6E2MiCM.jpg https://sun9-52.userapi.com/c854320/v854320128/10b5e5/-MYbY7QFXCw.jpg https://sun9-64.userapi.com/c854528/v854528471/130c90/1XPRFQ2Z15E.jpg http://vk.com/video33100735_456239138 (I don’t know, will it open or not). This is all thanks to BCN :33 Thanks for inspiration :333
Hi all, I normally read as many of the posts as I can each day, but my hip is bothering me today, so I don’t feel up to sitting in my crappy chair long enough to do that. I hope my hip is better tomorrow.
Marie is home and doing fine. She no longer has the gall … bladder. It really needed to come out, too. She’s a tough old bird, even with a far gone g.b., she said her worst level of pain was “8” on a scale of 1 to 10. We both have the same attitude toward pain. (So tell the universe to shut up, already!)
And MrrrCavity showed up just as we got home, none the worse for the near ice storm we had, and demanding his “Fistful of Crunchies!” So I was worried for nothing. He’ll still get the palatial abode I built for him.
Many thanks to all who “liked” and replied to my post, and for all the good wishes and positive vibes sent our way. Even MrrrCavity thanks you, and wants me to pass on much ankle reinforcement.
Seriously, starting to rain? Talk about an interesting coincidence, that ended up being Halloween here last night. Rain and high winds. And even before the rain we had a branch fall down next to the house. Eight inch diamter at the widest We were concerned it might have struck the sunporch, a few feet to the left and it would have. The thinner end did land in our plum tree. Thankfully it didn’t do much damage to that tree. The lights flickered several times but thankfully didn’t go out. Cleared out the brack today, looks like we’ll have a little firewood for the winter. Still the weather is questionable with high winds and shooting pains in my wrist.
Thought I’d share the jack-o-lantern again, this time I took video in the daylight just a few minutes ago. Shows some detail that wasn’t seen in the first video. https://youtu.be/VPLXOTHomSU
I am so sorry for your loss- a job is like a marriage- lots of time invested in it. Have you thought about marketing your insights on running a business, wholesaling and being a buyer plus how you kept connected with your family? It could be a great series of inservices
