For what culture??? So many possibilities if you remove some of the constraints.

In our family, the turkey has become just the carrier for oyster dressing. The other dishes just hold down the table cloth.

Best side dish: the people at the table with you physically and in spirit.

How can anyone evaluate BEST if they have not tried every variation of every dish. BEST is a stupid question. “What do you consider good?” is more realistic and accurate.

My wife and I have strived to get away from the traditional sit down dinner. Why go through hours of preparation for just a few minutes of eating? Last year we made sandwiches and ate them at a park. One year we had pie out on our acreage before the house was built. And we’ve served meals whenever we could. I guess what I’m saying is that a person can give thanks in many different ways.

I’ve been on Google also. My granddaughter says she wants a dog for Christmas. I said that turkey or ham is more traditional but I’ll see what I can find.
