Gotta say, that doesn’t look like a four in hand.

Is it “four in hand” or “foreign hand”? I was taught the latter.

A Four in Hand is a way of tying a tie. Looks sloppy to me. I think the Windsor Knot is the best.

I notice that Betty isn’t wearing that knot.

A four-in-hand was a style of tying a neckcloth in Regency England. A waterfall was another. it was an art to tie a neckcloth in a special way that all others would try to emulate.

Oh darn Betty – that was your chance to stuff his scarf in his mouth!

I use neck warmers. They are like the collar of a turtleneck sweater. No worries about the tying.

His response should have been, “Like a Christmas present.”
